Understanding
and Working through Conflict
April 28, 2011
11:30am-12:30pm
Durham Research Center Auditorium
The speaker for this session will be Patrick Friman, PhD, ABPP, Director of Clinical Services, Boystown/Clinical Professor Pediatrics, UNMC. If two people agree on absolutely everything, they must be the same person, for it is not possible for two people to completely agree on all things. In other words, conflict is a normal and necessary part of all human relationships and managing conflict is a key to the success of those relationships. Dr. Friman will discuss the nature of conflicts, what happens when they are ignored or avoided, how perceptions play a role, how anger can be expected and dealt with, and how dealing with conflict presents an opportunity to grow psychologically, emotionally, and socially.
