UNO Classes offered on UNMC Campus

         

UNMC is hosting UNO classes to increase accessibility for UNMC employees to start or further their undergraduate education. The classes offered can be taken to complete a Bachelor of General Studies degree (BGS), a Bachelor of Science degree (BS), a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), or just for fun!

The BGS degree is a fully accredited 125 hour undergraduate degree program for students 21 and older. With a BGS degree, you can either choose to focus on one of over 40 areas of concentration ranging from Healthcare Administration to Theater, or concentrate on three areas of emphasis. The BGS program also gives students the opportunity to complete their degree online. Another advantage to this program is that all credits previously earned at an accredited institution will count towards your degree. Visit the following website to find out more information. Spring classes:

ENGL 3000-802: Writing for the Workplace
Mondays 5:00 - 7:50pm
January 9 - May 4, 2012
Bennett Hall, Room 2020
The course will be taught by Ms. Sarah Zahm. Students in Writing for the Workplace will learn to write polished, professional communications that are audience-oriented and professionally readable. The course will stress skills in audience and context analysis, clarity, professional tone, elements of format and pattern, and research and revising techniques. Writing for the Workplace is a special topics course that meets the third writing requirement for UNO and other colleges/universities. To register requires ENGL 1160 (English Composition II) or equivalent, UNO placement exam overriding ENGL 1160, or permission of the instructor.

HED 2310-802: Healthful Living
Tuesdays 5:00 - 7:50pm
January 9 - May 4, 2012
Bennett Hall, Room 2020
The course will be taught by Dr. Richard Stacy and will study selected health problems and controversies in our society as related to knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors necessary for healthful living in a culturally diverse society. No prerequisites.

BRCT/THEA 1050-802: Film History & Appreciation
Wednesdays 5:00 - 7:50pm
January 9 - May 4, 2012
Bennett Hall, Room 2020
The course will be taught by Mr. Michael Krainak and explores the aesthetic values of the motion picture, including history of film and survey of elements involved in movies. Several movies will be watched throughout the semester with discussion and writing about the films and their elements. This course meets the humanities requirement for UNO and other colleges/universities and can be taken under Broadcasting or Theatre. No prerequisites.

Did you know that employees can use their Scholarship Credits to enroll in the classes? Employees have 15 credit hours per academic year to use at any of the four campuses, UNO, UNMC, UNL, or UNK.
