Fall 2009 Learn@Lunch Series -
Teambuilding: To Boldly Go Where No Team Has Gone Before

UNMC will launch its fall sessions for the Learn@Lunch Series on Thursday, September 10th. The fall session will focus on Teambuilding and the employee's role in building the desired team to achieve the vision and mission of the department, the unit and UNMC. Learn how to impact team members and ensure that everyone is on the same playing field by turning negative team experiences into positive ones. Raise the bar on team expectations and boldly go where no team has gone before.

The first session, "Dynamics, Disasters & Delights of Teamwork", will be held on Thursday, September 10th at the Durham Research Center Auditorium from 11:30am - 12:30pm. Whether you are someone who is delighted or delirious working in a team environment, this session will provide you with new communication tools and valuable information on accomplishing your goals and meeting the aspirations of your organization.  This program discusses your role and responsibilities to the team, regardless of whether you are the chairperson or a participant, and how you may be unknowingly sabotaging the team's success. The speaker for this session will be Kelly Wirges, President and CEO, Promax Training & Consulting.

The second session, "Huddle Up!", will be held on Wednesday, October 7th at the Durham Research Center Auditorium from 11:30am -12:30pm.  "Coach" Kush draws a correlation between building a winning football team and creating a quality team in a work environment where there are no sideline players. This program focuses on original strategies for fostering a work environment rich in teamwork and universal cooperation in a direct, compelling and humorous format. Get your team together for this motivational talk that will give your team members tools they can use to achieve daily success and meet long-term organizational goals. The speaker for this session will be Kevin Kush, Boystown Head Football Coach.

The third session, "Create a Positive Team Spirit...on any Team", will be held on Tuesday, November 17th at the Durham Research Center Auditorium from 11:30am - 12:30pm.   Do you support each other within and between departments? Do you hear positive comments often about people on your team? Is everyone working together toward the same ultimate goals? Learn how to turn negative attitudes into positive ones and move towards new levels of success. You will discover 3 steps to work together better, activities you can use on your team, see the energy change with a positive attitude and learn the "secret" to a positive team spirit.  The speaker for this session will be Kathy Larsen, President of the Leaders Circle.

Lunch will be provided to the first 150 participants to attend each session.  Preregistration is required and can be completed by clicking here or by visiting sapphire.nebraska.edu, click on training, then training registration.

Fall 2009 Learn@Lunch sessions will be available on archived webcast 7-10 days following each session.  The webcast will be listed on the Human Resources website, under Training and Development, Learn@Lunch.   If you have any questions, please email Debra Motl at dmotl@unmc.edu.
