The UNMC Management Series is an eight month
professional development experience uniquely designed for UNMC super
visors, managers and administrators to develop the necessary tools
to become highly effective leaders. Topics for the series foster
skills in visionary and strategic thinking, leadership and team
building, communication, plus contemporary topics in the
ever-changing management landscape.
Progressive by design, participants must make a commitment to the
entire series, with the endorsement of their immediate supervisor.
Enrollment is limited to support a highly interactive format, early
application is recommended. The program is sponsored by UNMC Human
Resources-Employee Relations. Monthly sessions are held off campus
to all for uninterrupted learning.

Course Objectives:

Define the main characteristics of an effective
leader and manager

Demonstrate how to provide meaningful feedback and
coaching for teams

Discuss characteristics of a highly effective team

Explore way to manage change situations in the
workplace and the importance of leadership through change

Demonstrate the principles of strengths based
leadership

Define the effective use of motivation, rewards,
and recognition as keys to team success

Discuss budget, regulatory and compliance processes
at UNMC

Explore diversity issues in a multi-generational
workplace

There is no fee for UNMC employees but pre-registration
is necessary to anticipate food and material needs
