One of the Foremost Hospitals in the US for Cancer Care, Transplantation, Neurology and Neurosurgery

From the heartland of the United States, Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha have been providing medical education and compassionate patient care since 1869.

Over the past decade, we have established international collaborative partnerships with 126 institutions in 44 countries. 

Hundreds of international patients have chosen to come to our institution for specialized care, especially for complicated cancer cases, lymphomas, transplantation and neurology.

  For thirteen consecutive years Nebraska Medicine has been named the National Consumer Choice Award   winner as a result of a large consumer study conducted by The National   Research Corporation (NRC). The goal of the survey is to determine the best   quality health care service in the region.
  U.S. News & World Report ranked Nebraska Medicine 36th nationally for its cancer care, 29th for gastroenterology and GI surgery, 29th in nephrology, 31st in neurology and neurosurgery, 41st in pulmonology and 25th in urology. This is the best performance for the hospital in terms of national recognition in these rankings.
  usnews_2014-2015U.S. News & World Report surveyed nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide to come up with this year’s list of Best Hospitals. For 2014-15, U.S. News evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties. Just 3 percent of the hospitals analyzed for Best Hospitals earned national ranking in even one specialty.

  We were recognized for Outstanding   Stroke and Cardiovascular Care in 2011 for a second consecutive year.
  Platinum Level Well Workplace   award – Recognizes organizations committed to improving the health and   physical well-being of its workforce. Nebraska Medicine was the   first hospital, and one of the only eight organizations in the U.S. to reach Platinum status.
  J.D. Power and Associates, one of the world’s leading independent marketing information firms, has designated Nebraska Medicine as a Distinguished hospital for Service Excellence for the sixth consecutive year.
  Magnet designation for extraordinary nursing care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s   (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®.
  Nebraska Medicine has achieved recognition in the Edgerton Award Program at the level of Progress   from the state of Nebraska, distinguishing the hospital’s commitment to   quality management and corporate practices where are designed to grow and   support excellence.

We celebrated 40th anniversary of  Kidney Transplant Program by performing over 5,000 transplants. We also completed 25 years for our Liver Transplant Program, completing more than 2,600 transplants. We are one of the first centers and pioneers in Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants. We are only one of the four US institutions for pediatric and adult Intestinal and Small Bowel Transplants. We have been recognized for Outstanding Stroke and Cardiovascular Care in 2011 for a second consecutive year.
