From the heartland of the United States, The Nebraska Medical Center (TNMC) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha have been providing medical education and compassionate patient care since 1869.

Over the past decade, we have established international collaborative partnerships with 119 institutions in 44 countries. 

Hundreds of international patients have chosen to come to our institution for specialized care, especially for complicated cancer cases, lymphomas, transplantation and neurology. 

 
  For thirteen consecutive years The   Nebraska Medical Center has been named the National Consumer Choice Award   winner as a result of a large consumer study conducted by The National   Research Corporation (NRC). The goal of the survey is to determine the best   quality health care service in the region.
   
  Ranked by U.S. News & World   Report as one of the best hospitals for Oncology, Transplant and Neurology.

Fewer than 150 of those hospitals are nationally ranked. The Nebraska Medical Center is ranked 45th nationally for its cancer care. Of the 16 specialties studied by U.S. News and World Report, The Nebraska Medical Center was recognized in 9: Ear, Nose & Throat, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Pulmonology, and Urology.
   
  A total of 215 physicians who practice at The Nebraska Medical Center have been recognized on this 2011-2012 list of Best Doctors in America®.
   
  44 of our doctors were voted by   peers as 2010 "America's Top Doctors.”
   
  We were recognized for Outstanding   Stroke and Cardiovascular Care in 2011 for a second consecutive year.

We celebrated 40th anniversary of  Kidney Transplant Program by performing over 5,000 transplants. We also completed 25 years for our Liver Transplant Program, completing more than 2,600 transplants. We are one of the first centers and pioneers in Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants. We are only one of the four US institutions for pediatric and adult Intestinal and Small Bowel Transplants. We have been recognized for Outstanding Stroke and Cardiovascular Care in 2011 for a second consecutive year.

We offer Electronic Tele-Pathology and Second Opinion consultation services. These services allow healthcare colleagues to utilize over 50 sub-specialties at our world renowned pathology and genetics facilities.

Hundreds of healthcare professionals from around the world have participated in our customized training, education and research programs.  These programs offer dynamic multi-faceted, no-cost and extended for-fee programs. Our programs offer the opportunity to train here in the United States at The Nebraska Medical Center side by side with our renowned specialists in over 50 specialties. The programs are open to doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, as well as healthcare administrators.
