1. Where is your hometown and where did you do your medical school training?
Hometown: Paxton, NE
Medical School: UNMC
2. Why did you choose UNMC for your residency training?
I chose UNMC for the location of training and the personality of the program. I am a Midwestern girl through and through, as evidenced in my lifetime of Nebraska residency. Knowing that I am likely going to spend the rest of my years in the Midwest, it only made sense for me to do my training here as well. UNMC offered me that great location with the exposure to serious medicine that will make me confident to practice anywhere when I am done. But all of that would be for naught without the fun and supportive colleagues that I have found in our program.
3. What is your favorite thing about Omaha, NE?
How surprising people find it. Contrary to some misconceived preconceptions, we not only have electricity and indoor plumbing….but, it’s safe to eat the sushi!
4. What do you like to do away from work?
Travel. From a quick 4.5 hour trip home to spoil my nieces and nephews to a week in the sun and sand, I like to maximize my time away from work with friends and family. This “pay check” thing it pretty great.
I’ve been told that 29 is too young for an early retirement, so I plan on spending some quality years practicing general medicine. Location TBD.
