Cardiovascular Research Symposium

In February of each year, the Division of Cardiology hosts an annual symposium. The purpose of this long-established annual event, which began in 1996, is to bring together UNMC clinicians and basic scientists who specialize in the field of cardiovascular disease, and to showcase the work being done on the UNMC campus. The schedule for this event includes a nationally-known keynote speaker, followed by oral and poster presentations. Cash awards are given to selected posters in both the basic and clinical areas.

At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss recent advances in the field of cardiovascular disease and its treatment
  • Evaluate information presented about new therapies and treatments for the management of cardiovascular disease
  • Describe potential benefits and risks of the proposed treatment or therapy
  • Understand the scope of cardiovascular-related research currently being carried out at UNMC
