Patient Care
Faculty of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Division provide care through Nebraska Medicine and the Omaha VA Medical Center.
- 45 is the New 50! Colonoscopy is recommended once every 10 years beginning at the age of 45 for healthy men and women.
- If there is family history of colorectal cancer, the first colonoscopy should be performed 10 years before the age your first degree relative was diagnosed.
- It is recommended that African Americans, who have a higher incidence of colon polyps and cancer begin screening at age 40.
