Interdisciplinary team care is a hallmark of geriatric care. However, the various disciplines typically incorporate little training in team skills. TeamSTEPPS--Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety--is a comprehensive program developed as a result of collaboration between the Department of Defense and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. TeamSTEPPS focuses on specific skills that support effective team performance. This Essentials Module introduces the basic skills.
