Geriatrics

The Sunny Side of Geriatrics

A Summer experience in Geriatric Medicine

Geriatric medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is involved with caring for the aging population. Physicians come to the specialty through family medicine or internal medicine. As the aging population increases, geriatrics will become more and more important. Regardless of the field of medicine you choose, a solid understanding of the issues involved with aging will not only be valuable but necessary. We would like to offer you an opportunity to explore geriatric medicine in an intensive summer experience.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center, Division of Geriatrics is offering a Summer Program in Geriatrics. The program is for selected students who have finished their first year. The Summer Geriatrics Program introduces medical students, over 3 weeks, to physician mentors in aging. The mentors will help provide educational and clinical experiences in aging for student externs. The program also includes lectures from physicians and focused clinical experiences in the hospital, nursing home, and clinic.
