Upper Endoscopy (EGD)
An EGD is a procedure that provides your doctor with useful information that other tests may not be able to provide. With the doctor's assistance, you will swallow a small flexible tube that will allow for visualization of the upper part of your gastrointestinal system. The areas visualized are the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (first portion of the small intestine).
Your physician will prescribe the necessary preparation for this procedure.
