General Internal Medicine Research Opportunities
The Division of General Internal Medicine has a strong history of students and residents participating in new and ongoing research projects. While several faculty in General Internal Medicine are involved in research projects, the majority of investigator-initiated research is done by Drs. Wigton, Canaris, Tape, Etherton and Nickol. Drs. Wigton and Tape are active in clinical judgment, decision analysis, and prediction rules. Dr. Canaris' background is in clinical research, preventive medicine and epidemiology. Her current research projects address hypothyroidism, influenza, women's health, and health issues in minority and Native American populations. Dr. Etherton works in educational research, and has an active project studying feedback in medical education. Dr. Nickol is active in the use of computers in medical education.
