Biographical Sketch:

Dr Kessinger is Professor of Medicine and has been on faculty at UNMC since 1972. She served as Chief in the Division of Oncology/Hematology from 1991 to 1999. Dr. Kessinger received her residency and fellowship training in Oncology at UNMC. She is currently the Associate Director for Clinical Research of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center. Dr. Kessinger takes care of patients with solid tumors, specifically lung and skin cancers. Dr. Kessinger is also the Chair of the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Scientific Review Committee at UNMC and is an active member / consultant of the National Comprehensive Cancer Center Network. Dr. Kessinger has published over 190 peer-reviewed articles in various medical journals. Dr. Kessinger reviews for various medical, hematology and oncology journals. Dr. Kessinger is an outstanding researcher and is credited along with her colleagues at UNMC, for her pioneering contributions in the use of peripheral stem cells in transplantation.
