ABOUT THE JOINT PEDIATRIC IRB The Joint Pediatric IRB (PedsIRB) is a separate Institutional Review Board that reviews and approves all human subject research involving children that is conducted by the faculty, students, staff, or other representatives of Children’s Hospital & Medical Center (Children's), UNMC, or UNO. The PedsIRB also reviews and approves any research involving children conducted by non-affiliated investigators, when the research is conducted on the premises of Children's, UNMC, clinics owned or operated by Children's or UNMC, and UNO. The PedsIRB is administratively located in the Office of Regulatory Affairs at UNMC.

The PedsIRB meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month. No more than 15 protocols new or previously tabled protocols will be reviewed at each meeting. All reviews are performed on a first-come first-served basis. Incomplete submissions may result in delay of IRB review. Please see the appropriate PedsIRB application found in IRB APPLICATIONS under the FORMS tab for full submission requirements.
IMPORTANT REMINDER All key personnel involved with the conduct of human subjects research under the oversight of the PedsIRB need to complete the required training in protection of human research subjects. Key personnel refers to all investigators, study personnel, and protocol coordinators. New research protocols or continuing review of on-going projects will not be approved until all key personnel have been trained and certified.
