Preparing for the switch from Lotus Notes Mail to Microsoft Outlook

Prioritizing your Lotus Notes Mail - click on link for video of the tips below (you may need to turn up the volume to hear)

Sort through your Lotus Notes database to prioritize your mail by name, subject, date. We recommend that mail you determine is essential should be saved to a folder similar to something like "1Keep" or "2Keep" or some way you will be able to distinguish those from your other folders. You may add subfolders with more appropriate identifying names. Placing a number before the name will cause those folders to appear at the top of your list of folders so that you can click and drag other messages into those folders. These messages can be forwarded or converted to PDF later if mail is not migrated to Outlook.

You may certainly delete messages while you're sifting through, but don't spend a lot of time deleting because it is likely little if any mail will be migrated from Lotus Notes to Outlook. In addition, don't bother scheduling repeating calendar entries past March 2012. If calendar entries past March are not migrated to Outlook, you may also want to print monthly calendar views so that you will be able to re-enter those in Outlook when that system becomes available in early 2012.
