South Data Center

Construction

  • Equipment room walls ‘hardened’ utilizing FEMA design concepts (steel studs, steel sheeting, plywood & GWB).
  • Equipment room constructed beneath the third floor office space for structural protection
  • Print room isolated from equipment space for dust protection
  • Card access required for ITS area and Data Center
Floor Space
  • 5000 square feet of raised floor expandable to 6000
  • 18” raised floor system
  • All network cabling installed on exposed cable trays above equipment
  • Chilled water for cooling supplied from the campus utility grid, which ties together several chillers in two utility plants. Redundant cooling from an on-site air cooled dx system
  • FM200 fire extinguishing system
Power
  • Normal electrical power supplied from campus grid, which is supplied by multiple entrances from Omaha Public Power District
  • Emergency Diesel Generators on campus electrical grid
  • (2) 225kVA Liebert Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units installed in a secured area below the Data Center. UPS has sealed gel-cell batteries and individual battery monitoring
  • All power cabling below floor

  • Liebert SiteScan Web - Centralized Monitoring and Control
  • WhatsUpGold – Network Management Software from Ipswitch
  • Security Camera System using Digital Video Recorders
  • Multiple application specific monitoring tools
North Data Center

Floor Space

  • 2300 square feet of raised floor (1400 sq ft server room, 900 console / UPS room)
  • 16” raised floor system
  • All Network cabling installed on exposed cable trays above equipment
  • Two 30 ton and two 15 ton CRAC units provide cooling
  • Dry pipe sprinkler system

Power

  • Normal electrical power supplied from campus grid, which is supplied by multiple entrances from Omaha Public Power District
  • Emergency Diesel Generators on campus electrical grrid
  • (2) 150kVA Liebert Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units are installed in the Data Center. UPS has sealed gel-cell batteries and individual battery monitoring

Monitoring

  • This Data Center is primarily lights-out and is monitored from the Command Center in the South Data Center.
