Yvette Holly, Assistant Vice Chancellor

Yvette Holly is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology Services, a position she has held since 2000.   She is currently responsible for providing complex data, voice and video infrastructure and support services to UNMC and its growing number of healthcare partners. Ms. Holly’s senior level information technology experience includes strategic and tactical planning; budget preparation and administration; contract negotiations; project and personnel management; and leadership and management for UNMC’s academic health science center.

An employee of UNMC Information Technology Services since 1981, she has held positions of increased leadership and responsibility to include Manager of Administrative Computing, Assistant Director, Director and Executive Director.

 Ms. Holly was awarded Technology Chief of the Year in 2006 by Applied Information Management (AIM) Institute at their 13th Annual Nebraska Technology Celebration Banquet.

Sharon Welna, Information Security Officer

Sharon K. Welna is the associate director of information systems compliance and project planning at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha NE. In her position, she is responsible for the implementation of HIPAA security regulations for UNMC, UNMC Physicians, University Dental Associates and The Nebraska Medical Center. Ms. Welna is also responsible for implementation of GLBA security regulations and PCI compliance.

Max Thacker, Associate Director Video Services

Max Thacker experience in the broadcast and production professions working in the engineering, distance learning as well as video environments. His background includes supervisory responsibilities for the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission’s Satellite and Network Operations Centers. He also held the position of Distance Learning Services Coordinator for 10 years with the State of Nebraska and was responsibilities for managing and development of the state’s distance learning satellite and terrestrial networks as well as the Nebraska Video Conference Network. In addition to coordinating, planning and providing quality control for UNMC’s distance learning network his responsibility also extends to the development of telehealth systems and services to meet the needs of rural and underserved Nebraskans as well as UNMC’s international partners. Thacker has served on numerous commissions and organizations.

Lee Trant, Associate Director Application Services

Lee's experience as senior administrator in an academic health science center includes leading a team responsible for the development and/or support of mission critical campus wide applications relied upon by the academic and research enterprise as well as a wide array of administrative applications for the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Harry Wines, Associate Director Network and Technical Services

Harry has extensive networking experience in an academic health science center environment. He leads a team responsible for designing, implementing and supporting the shared physical network for UNMC and its healthcare partners which consists of over 30,000 network drops. Wireless design and deployment, remote access and network monitoring are major components of his team's responsibilities. In addition, his technical services team includes server support for UNMC's mission critical systems, such as Email and departmental servers. This involves storage management, backups, and management of systems.

Rod Lugert, Associate Director Customer Support Services & Data Center Operations

Rod is key player in major projects such as the data center relocation to a state-of-the-art facility in 2002. He currently is responsible for the data center operations, data installation services, workstation support and Help Desk teams.

Dan Moser, Ph.D., Associate Director Learning Environment/Internet Services

Dan is a key player in the design and implementation of UNMC's robust classroom technologies. He serves on numerous academic related committees providing guidance and direction in the use of educational technologies. Dan is active in the IT community serving and local organization as well as local school organizations that promote science and technology for students. Currently Dan leads the team responsible for designing and implementing classroom technologies, Internet/intranet infrastructure and support services, IT classes and academic support services.

Terry O'Callaghan, Associate Director Telecommunications

Terry is a knowledgeable IT professional with experience in biomedical communications, cabling infrastructure management and premise based telecommunication systems and technologies. He currently leads the team responsible for designing, managing and supporting UNMC's premise-based telecommunications system and subsystems as well as cable installation and management.

Kim Strohbehn, Administrator II

Kim is a member of the Information Technology Services leadership team for with responsibilities including budgeting, strategic planning, contingency planning, policy development and review, as well as coordinating numerous special projects. As the department administrator for a unit of 120+ IT professionals and support staff she provides the full spectrum of human resources management to include recruitment, career path management, salary analysis and performance management.
