Giving to the Library

As we enter a new era with massive shifts in how, where, and when people use library services, the McGoogan Health Sciences Library aspires to exceed University of Nebraska Medical Center community expectations by creating a virtual and physical space that enhances learning, encourages innovation, provides technology for users in a meaningful way, and demonstrates that we are an academic research library of the future.

The library can and should continue to be the place where people go to learn how to learn. The services provided to students, faculty, staff, and public – online and in person – are beyond value. They are paramount; especially in competitive, serious, and effective academic institutions. - UNMC student, 2016

We invite you to contribute to our vision of becoming a library of the future.

The Leon S. McGoogan Health Sciences Library collections, services, and resources have been shaped and immeasurably enhanced by thoughtful donors and benefactors.

Ideas for Giving

Our collections include electronic journals and books, historical materials, medical models, and specialized databases.

From the library’s Maker Studio, students have moved 3D design, prototyping, and materials experimentation forward to a place of campus-wide inquiry and recognition.

Through embedded services, in-classroom teaching, and distance education, the McGoogan Health Sciences Library reaches UNMC faculty, staff, and students in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Norfolk and Scottsbluff-Gering.

McGoogan Health Sciences Library is also a hub for the UNMC Health Information Service, which provides health information to Nebraskans.

Our Special Collections Department hosts engaging and creative online exhibits and curates digitized one-of-a-kind materials in our online institutional repository.
