Research articles, as well as systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and practice guidelines, can be located in the CINAHL and MEDLINE databases. Though MEDLINE does contain citations to nursing journals, CINAHL is the preeminent literature database for the nursing field. If you cannot find the information you need in CINAHL, you would then need to search MEDLINE.
Many different types of articles are indexed in these databases and not all are considered evidence. You will be locating publication types such as research studies, clinical trials, randomized controlled trials, proceedings
systematic reviews, care plans, protocols, standards, and so on. For the purpose of this assignment, preformatted searches, or filters, have been constructed. These filters focus on particular publication types, subject headings, and evidence-based journals. Once you have located articles with these filters, you must then decide if it is the type of evidence you need.
