Go Local Nebraska links Medline Plus users to health service providers and organizations in the state of Nebraska.
Subject Coverage:
A broad range of health services in Nebraska will be represented from the established Go Local Service terms with emphasis on clinics, hospitals, health departments, public health services, nursing home facilities, mental health centers, libraries, emergency medical services, home health care services, and support groups. Many of these health service organizations and providers will lack websites. Therefore Go Local Nebraska will not restrict selection to only those sources having a web presence, but will provide addresses and contact information for sources meeting the Go Local Nebraska selection criteria.
Geographic Coverage:
All counties, towns and cities in the state will be represented.
Selection Criteria:
- Quality, authority of the Source:
- Must be a reputable service and able to offer credentials or qualifications.
- There must be a way to contact the organization, i.e. Telephone number or email address.
- The source of the content is established, respected and dependable.
- The information provided is appropriate to the audience level, well-organized and easy to use.
- Lists of links are evaluated/reviewed/quality-filtered and Nebraska based.
- The primary purpose of Go Local Nebraska is informative and not to sell a product or service. Most content included is available at no charge.
- Websites listed will have no advertising unless an advertising policy is listed on the site. Advertisers or sponsors will not play a role in selecting or editing health information.
- GoLocal Nebraska will exclude organizations and Web resources if presentation or content could lead a reasonable user to infer endorsement of products or services.
- The criteria for including service providers and organizations:
- Individuals or organizations that provide, coordinate, or advocate for health and human services.
- Individual or organizations that provide community service opportunities.
- Health and human services programs offered by government agencies.
- Advocacy groups related to health and human service issues.
- On-going support groups.
- Civic and business organizations as appropriate to Go Local Nebraska goals.
- Faith-based programs that provide a community service and do not discriminate against non-members.
- Public, academic, or private libraries (including hospital libraries) which offer health-related information.
- Professional and regulatory boards.
- The criteria for excluding service providers or organizations:
- Organizations that offer a service only to their members.
- Agencies and programs that misrepresent their services in some way.
- Agencies and programs that sell a product or service.
- Agencies and programs that violate federal, state, or local laws.
- Agencies and programs that deny services based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, political belief, veteran status, sexual orientation, and marital or familial status.
- The criteria for inclusion of websites:
- There is contact information on the site.
- The Web site is consistently available.
- The Web site maintains its links to outside sources.
- Links from the site are maintained.
- The source for the contents of the Web page(s) and the entity responsible for maintaining the Web site (webmaster, organization, creator of the content) is clear.
- Information is current or an update date is included.
- Site provides information about a local or regional organization, service, or activity.
- Registration is not required to view the information on the site.
