Search term hints for questions concerning an entire class of drugs:

• Include the class name and a plural for the class name if appropriate
• Include the generic and U.S. trade names for each drug included in the drug class
• Include commonly used abbreviations for individual drug names and the drug class name (e.g. PPI)
• Include any commonly used chemical names for the drugs in the drug class
• For the most comprehensive search, include foreign trade names. Don't worry about including foreign trade names in your search strategies during today's lab.
• Avoid using the words "drug," "therapy," "medication," "pharmaceutical," and other similar words and their plurals. Because IPA indexes only the pharmacy literature, nearly every IPA record concerns a drug or therapy.
