Evidence-Based search filters for PubMed

To search for evidence-based information in Medline via Pubmed, apply the following filters to your search.

  1. Decide what type of question you are asking based on the filter categories below.
  2. Click on that category. You will be transported into Pubmed and the filter search will have been run.
  3. Search your topic. It is best to first search using MeSH. To learn how to do this, read the Searching with MeSH.
Filter categories - Clicking on the link will run the filter search in PubMed. Make sure to add your term to the search with AND and put the filter string in parenthesis. You can also cut and paste the filter string into a PubMed search window and AND your search term with it.

overview - ("meta analysis"[Publication Type] OR "practice guideline"[Publication Type] OR "review"[Publication Type])
