- This is the official site of the WHO, describing its organization,
policies and programs, and also providing information on key health
concerns and programs from tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS to child health
and reproduction, tobacco, drugs and vaccines, and food safety. It
also has a section on its major offices worldwide.

- This is the online government compendium of federal programs, projects,
services, and activities providing assistance to the public, of both
financial and non financial nature. The descriptions of the programs
usually are in formal government language.

- (Records describe government information products (books, pamphlets,

- "Data & Statistics" menu provides access to reports
and statistics prepared by the CDC on topics such as environmental
health, HIV/AIDS, cancer, sexually transmitted diseases, tuberculosis,
and behavioral risk factors. The CDC WONDER search system provides
access to reports, guidelines, and numeric public health data including
census data, morbidity and mortality, AIDS, Healthy People 2000, etc.

- Provides information about the HHS and it's various agencies. Offers
links to a search engine, news and public affairs, employment opportunities,
research, and gateways.

- This U.S. Government Web site provides one-stop access to online
federal resources. Information is also available in Spanish.

- This is the BIG one, NIH's official Web site, which is searchable
and also available in Spanish. It has a "What's New" feature,
but its major sections are: a multifaceted overview of NIH, News and
Events, Health Information (a selection of NIH resources), Funding
Opportunities (information on research and grants), Scientific Resources,
the NIH's Institutes and Offices, and Information for Employees (on
workplace concerns and services to workers with special needs.

- This site, from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special
Education (OSERS)(through its National Institute on Disability and
Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR)), includes information about the organization
and its programs and research, which relate to activities for the "full
inclusion, social integration, employment, and independent living of
disabled individuals of all ages."

- This site is divided up into categories such as U.S. Census 2000,
People, Business, Geography, News, and Special Topics. It also offers
a search engine, some publications in PDF format, jobs, information
about the bureau, and related sites.
- U.S. Government Patent and Trademark
Office

- This site is working on getting full text data on patents and trademarks.
When complete, it will offer free full text information on 2 million
patents dating back to 1976 as well as text and clipped images of 800,000
trademarks and 300,000 pending registrations dating back from the late
1800's to the present. A good first step for searching for patent and
trademark information.

which is the codification of rules of U.S. government agencies published
in the Federal Register. It is searchable and also offers a browsing
feature.

- This is a searchable database of the Federal Register, the official
daily publication for Rules, Proposed Rules, Notices of Federal agencies
and organizations and also Executive Orders. Documents are retrievable
in TEXT, PDF, and SUMMARY (abbreviated text) formats. It also has a
browse feature to look over the TOC of current and back issues of Federal
Register.

Regional, Counties, Cities, and Other. A keyword search engine is also
available.

- Beginning in 1997 as a Nebraska Library Commission pilot project,
the State Government Publications Online's goal was to digitize and
post key agency publications for the Internet. Because other state
agencies also have publications posted to their Web sites, the State
Government Publications Online has now become an expanded comprehensive
directory of all state agency documents.
