Tom Gensichen is the Head of the Systems Department and the library liaison to Information Technology Services. Tom earned a B.A. in Theater and Library Science from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and his M.A.L.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Ann Kaste is a Digital Resources Librarian. She received her BA in English from the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, MN and her MLIS from the College of St. Catherine (St. Paul, MN)/Dominican University's (River Forest, IL) joint library science program.

Responsibilities

The Systems Department is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Helix integrated library system (online catalog), administration of the Library local area network, installation, maintenance and repair of all Windows-based hardware and software, and troubleshooting user access issues with electronic databases and journals. In addition, the Head of Systems acts as a liaison between UNMC Information Technology Services and the Library.
