Monoclonal Antibody Facility

Antibody Production

Growth of cells  in vitro to produce immunoglobulin-containing supernatant.

Small scale in vitro production of antibody.  Supernatants are saved as cells are archived, or cells are grown  to extinction to boost antibody concentration.   It is common for a hybridoma cell line to produce 5-20 µg of antibody per ml of supernatant - 100 ml could yield up to 2 mg.

Immunoglobulin Weeks COST
1-5 mg 1-2 weeks $60
5-25mg 2-3 weeks $120
25-50 mg 3- 4 weeks $260
50-75 mg 4-5 weeks $350
75-100 mg ~8 weeks $550

Large scale in vitro production of antibody.  The Integra CL 1000 System is used for large scale antibody production.  Concentrations of antibody can reach 1 mg/ml.  The specialized flask allows increased cell and antibody concentrations while decreasing the amout of serum required for culture.
