Medicine-Pediatrics Program

Training

The inpatient training occurs primarily at three different sites:  The Nebraska Medical Center, the VA Medical Center and Omaha Children’s Hospital.  There is also the opportunity to participate in off-site rotations in both departments, ranging from more rural Nebraska rotations to International rotations in South Africa or Spain.

 

Continuity Clinic currently occurs in three different settings, Turner Park Internal Medicine Clinic, UNMC Pediatrics Clinic and Baker Place Combined Med-Peds Clinic, all of which are described below. 

 

 

UNMC Hospitals 

  • Part of The Nebraska Medical Center.

  • 525 bed hospital

  • Level 1 Trauma Center

  • Site of Lied Transplant Center

  • PICU and Level III NICU.

  • Exposure to Pediatric ER

 University Hospital
 

VA Hospital

  • 100 bed facility with a 16 bed ICU

  • 24 hour Emergency Room

  • Newly remodeled wards and clinics

 VA Hospital
 

Omaha Children’s Hospital

  • Built in 2001 and primary site for inpatient pediatric training.

  • Comprehensive children’s hospital with 16 bed PICU and ED experience

 

 

 

Turner Park Clinic 

  • Internal Medicine resident clinic

  • Socially and economically diverse patients.

 
 

Baker Place Clinic

  • Med-Peds clinic

  • Socially and economically diverse patients.

 
 

Durham Outpatient Center Pediatrics

  •  Staffed by UNMC staff pediatricians
