Avian Flu programs scheduled for November 2007

 

Plan now to attend the November 2007 Pandemic Preparedness & Awareness Activities.

Friday Nov. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: 
Education information will be available at a table near the Clarkson Tower cafeteria  

 

Friday Nov. 2, Noon: Lunch & Learn Speaker: Sharon Medcalf of the Center for Biopreparedness, will present “Pandemic Flu 101” in the Clarkson Tower Storz Lower Level Learning Center 2 & 3).  

 

Friday Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: 
Education information will be available at a table in University Tower, 3rd floor, near elevators outside cafeteria, including a demonstration of the UNMC College of Nursing HEROES biopreparedness education simulator.  

 

Friday Nov. 9, Noon:
Lunch & Learn Speaker: Phil Smith, M.D., UNMC section of infectious diseases, will talk about infection control and personal protective equipment in the UNMC Wittson Hall Amphitheatre.  

 

Friday Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: 
Education information will be available at a table in the Durham Outpatient Center by the gift shop, including a demonstration of the UNMC College of Nursing HEROES biopreparedness education simulator.  

 

Friday Nov. 16, Noon:
Lunch & Learn Speaker: Sharon Medcalf of the Center for Biopreparedness, will talk about caring for the ill at home during a pandemic in the UNMC Wittson Hall Amphitheatre
 

 

The Avian Flu presentation is also available online and includes:

  • What is avian flu

  • The difference between avian and pandemic flu
  • How Americans could be affected
  • The status of the disease around the world
  • And steps you and your family can take to be prepared at home

The program is presented by Sharon Medcalf of the Center for Biopreparedness Education.
