Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve Procedure
Dr. McBride, Dr. Kothari, Dr. Goede, and Dr. Oleynikov have been specially trained to perform the Gastric Sleeve. This procedure is considered a newer weight loss procedure even though it has been performed for about 5 years.
Short term data has demonstrated that this procedure is an effective weight loss tool. Surgeons transform the stomach into a small tube similar in size to the small intestine. Because the stomach is much smaller, you are restricted to the amount of food you can intake, but the body will be able to absorb nutrients normally. This procedure is not reversible as a portion of the stomach is removed.
After surgery you should eat slowly and chew your food well. Never drink with meals.
