Virtual Care Program
Center for Autism VCP Research

In response to the current shortage of applied behavior analysts in rural areas of Nebraska and other states, the Virtual Care Program in the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders provides behavioral health services to children remotely via web-based communications. This web-based platform has served numerous children across the state while addressing important research questions, including:

  • comparing the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of systems designed to measure parent-child interactions remotely and over extended durations
  • determining the accuracy and reliability of motion-detection cameras and software designed to measure children’s nighttime sleep disturbances
  • comparing behavioral and pharmacological treatments on improving children’s sleep
  • evaluating the extent to which parent-training procedures promote generalization and maintenance of parents’ ability to teach functional-communication and delay-tolerance skills while identifying barriers to treatment implementation
