General Purpose and Mission
The Meyer Foundation for Disabilities helps people with developmental disabilities by supporting programs at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) in Omaha. Many of these programs are not available elsewhere.
The Meyer Foundation for Disabilities currently focuses on supporting and funding adult recreational therapy programs at MMI, as well as, equipment for the Recreational Thearpy Program. Recreational therapy uses prescriptive recreational activity and community transition training to improve physical, cognitive, social and emotional functioning. Programs are provided on a year-round basis.

Adult Evening Respite and Habilitation Program
In the Omaha community there are thousands of adults with developmental disabilities who need a specialized environment to successfully participate in recreational and social activities. The purpose of the Munroe-Meyer Adult Evening and Habilitation Program is to provide unique opportunities that are otherwise unavailable.
The program is supervised by the professional staff of the Munroe-Meyer Recreational Therapy Department with many therapy technicians and assistants. Volunteers from local high schools and colleges also donate their time and talent to assist participants with activities and provide social interaction.
