Delayed Development of Movement is a non-specific diagnosis that can be caused by a variety of issues. Because of its variation, individualized treatment is essential. The University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) therapists believe that teamwork is the best approach to diagnosis and treatment in order to achieve goals for increased movement. With so many options available for adaptive equipment, from wheelchairs to walkers to canes to braces, it can be difficult to decide. Our staff bring the best treatment to your child’s program including: NDT, gait training, TAMO, research, early intervention, adaptive equipment, transition, fitness training and more.
The expertise and experience of our team members in areas of habilitation such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, seating, recreation, speech and education are easily accessed. Each program is designed for that specific individual and is tailored to the child's capabilities and motivation. Our therapists assist children in developing movement for play, learning, and function. The family, child, and therapist should set goals for movement and plan on ways to achieve those goals together.
