Test name: Cancer Chromosome Analysis
Also known as: Cancer Cytogenetics, Karyotyping by G-banding
Indications:
- Leukemia
- Lymphoma
- Malignant hematologic disorders
- Solid tumor
Test Information: Chromosome analysis is performed using standard methodology to identify numerical and structural chromosomal aberrations with diagnostic and prognostic implications and to monitor response to therapy, disease progression, and treatment-related secondary malignancies.

Specimen requirements*: Test kits are available – please contact the laboratory
*HGL will attempt to run tests on smaller volume samples
- Bone Marrow: 2-3 ml bone marrow in a 3 ml sodium heparin tube
Instructions: Bone marrow from 1st or 2ndaspirate using a sodium-heparinized syringe - Cancer Blood: 5 ml peripheral blood in a 5 ml sodium heparin tube
- Lymph Node / Solid Tumor Tissue: ≥5 mm3 of lymph node or representative tumor tissue in tissue culture media
- Other – Body Fluid: 1-50 ml in sterile container
