LABORATORY GENETIC COUNSELOR SERVICES


Laboratory counselors are involved in a variety of tasks that integrate their master's level genetic counseling training with day to day laboratory tasks associated with increasingly complicated genetic test results.

Genetic counselors are liaisons between the laboratory and providers with:

  • notification of test results
  • discussion of additional studies necessary to provide interpretation
  • requests for additional clinical and family information to clarify a result
