Individuals who use a wheelchair have unique equipment needs. With all the equipment options available, deciding what to use can be overwhelming. The therapists of UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute seating and mobility clinic are experts at matching a client’s needs to the proper equipment. The client’s needs are determined based on the individual’s daily activities and environmental demands; such as transportation issues, where the wheelchair will be used, and the duration of need.
Multi-disciplinary specialists, including a certified assistive technology professional, occupational therapist and physical therapist, work together to achieve the goal of matching an individual’s needs with the proper equipment. The convenience of the ability to trial equipment in the presence of specialized therapists and your equipment supplier is provided.
