The goal of the Speech Language Pathology Department at MMI is to improve the communication skills and swallowing ability of individuals of all ages who have speech, language or swallowing disorders. This goal is accomplished through the provision of model services, training of advanced students, community outreach to practicing speech and language pathologists and research designed to assess the most effective and efficient methods of therapy.

The department activities take place within MMI, in RiteCare clinics in Lincoln and Hastings, at the Nebraska Medical Center and in the community. There are currently nine speech language pathologists who provide services at MMI, one speech language pathologist in Lincoln and two speech language pathologists in Hastings. All of the speech pathologists have Nebraska licensure and certification through the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
