UNMC/UNO MPH Program
Accreditation
The Joint UNMC/UNO Master of Public Health Program has been re-accredited by the Council on Education
for Public Health (CEPH) for seven years (until 2016). The program has been continuously accredited
since 2002. Accreditation approval by the 10-member CEPH Board of Councilors (appointed by the
American Public Health Association and the Association of Schools of Public Health) culminated a
two-year process focused on self-evaluation and a site visit by a team of faculty and public health
practitioners.
The U.S. Department of Education recognizes CEPH as the accreditation agency of schools and programs
of public health located in administrative settings other than schools of public health. To be
accredited the program met CEPH criteria which call for an “explicit process for evaluation and
monitoring its overall efforts against its mission, goals and objectives; for assessing the school’s
effectiveness in serving its various constituencies; and for planning to achieve its mission in the
future.” Accreditation of the program is essential for MPH graduates as it is an eligibility
requirement for the National Board of Public Health Examiners examination.
