The LTQ Velos system (ThermoFisher, Inc.) is configured with a Eksigent uPLC system and ESI ionization source for nano-LC-MS/MS analyses. It is particularly useful for analysis of low complexity of samples such as from 2-dimensional electrophoresis proteins spots as well complex samples containing a number of proteins in 2-dimensional LC fractionations. This instrument is relatively easy to operate. Database searches are performed using Proteome Discoverer 1.2 software based on SEAQUEST algorithm.
