Welcome to the Neuromuscular Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Neuromuscular diseases include those that affect nerves and muscles, and the communication between them. Our program offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic options, to patients with these conditions. We conduct research on neuromuscular and autonomic diseases, and collaborate with many institutions nationwide. As part of the University program, we educate the community, medical students, neurology residents and general physicians about nerve and muscle diseases.

At Nebraska Medicine's electro-diagnostic and autonomic laboratories, we provide state-of-the-art electro-diagnostic methods, including nerve conduction studies, needle electromyography, quantitative sensory testing, visual, brainstem and somatosensory evoked potential studies and sudomotor and cardiovascular autonomic testing. We work closely with our Neurosurgery and Neuropathology colleagues to provide excellent nerve and muscle biopsy and interpretation as part of the comprehensive neuromuscular evaluation. We also provide skin biopsies as a complementary diagnostic method for small fiber neuropathy. As regional leaders, our Center holds locally the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and the ALS Association Comprehensive Clinics. Our physicians are board-certified and have had advanced training in, Neurology, Neurodiagnostics and Neuromuscular Medicine.
