Carol Wilson was often called a trailblazer in nursing thanks to her support and advocacy for the field. Today, her name continues to be associated with pioneering efforts and progression in nursing at UNMC.
Carol was the director of nursing at the former University Hospital, now part of The Nebraska Medical Center, for nearly 40 years. She later served as assistant director for health services administration before retiring in 1992.
Carol also was a tireless volunteer and longtime benefactor for the UNMC College of Nursing. After she passed away in 2007, the Carol M. Wilson Endowed Chair in Nursing was established at the College of Nursing through her estate.
In recognition of her unwavering commitment to excellence in nursing education UNMC has established the Carol M. Wilson Health Assessment Laboratory on the center’s second level.
