A recent gift made by Karen Olson, M.D., David Olson, M.D., and Nancy Olson honors the memory of their mother, Dorothy Olson, and her extraordinary commitment to nursing education and the health of women.
Dorothy received her nursing degree from the University of Nebraska College of Nursing in 1943. Her passion for helping others was evident in her work and involvement in the community. She passed away in June 2010.
Olson and her husband, Leland Olson, MD, have been longtime supporters of the University of Nebraska. Their generosity has benefited numerous students and patients and led to the creation of UNMC’s Olson Center for Women’s Health and the Dorothy Hodges Olson Chair in Nursing.
To recognize Mrs. Olson’s numerous contributions to excellence in nursing education and women’s health, UNMC has established the Dorothy H. Olson Women’s Health Simulation Laboratory on the center’s third level.
