SHARING the Vision

Location: Maurer Center for Public Health, UNMC

Target Audience: Faculty involved in, or contemplating being involved in, student run free clinic.  This includes faculty from behavioral health, clinical laboratory science, clinical nutrition, dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician's assistants, and public health.

Conference Program: The conference program will consist of plenary sessions, networking opportunities, and breakout sessions.  The plenary sessions will be designed by the program committee.  Peer-reviewed sessions will be selected and organized by the program committee.  The peer-reviewed program will consist of three types of sessions:

• Problem-solving sessions.  These are designed for intensive discussions focused on a particular theme or problem.  The presenter provides stimulus material and organizes small-group interaction on the topic.  After discussion, the small group shares ideas and develops a summary statement.
• Roundtables/works in progress.  This is an informal opportunity for participants to share research ideas or works in progress.  Selected presenters will give an oral overview of a research study related to student-run clinics and the attendees provide feedback and advice.  Completed (unpublished) research studies, studies currently in progress, or potential ideas for research may be presented.
• Virtual Posters.  The purpose of this session type is to have presenters share descriptions of unique programs, policies, measurement strategies, or projects focusing on student-run clinics.  Presenters compose a single PowerPoint slide (analogous to a poster) to display.  Presenters will show their ‘poster’ and dialogue with attendees.
