UNMC CNE Mission Statement:

The College of Nursing Continuing Nursing Education program is committed to provision of the highest quality continuing education to registered nurses with advanced and basic professional degrees in Nebraska and beyond, including those who may not have convenient access to traditional continuing education offerings. Continuing nursing education activities should be based on adult learning principles and should involve the learners themselves in assessment of learning needs and all phases of the learning process. To meet the needs of a diverse local, regional, and national audience of professional nurses, continuing nursing education activities should include a variety of learning options in addition to traditional activities that are provided in a specific time frame and place. These include distance learning options and educational activities delivered via Web-based and other modalities that can be completed anytime and anywhere, including competency in interprofessional practice. Continuing nursing education provides systematic, planned learning experiences designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, attitudes, competence, and performance of nurses, and ultimately improve patient and community health. To assure high quality continuing nursing education that achieves intended outcomes and impacts patients and populations, this program is committed to comprehensive, systematic, and ongoing evaluation of our educational activities and our program as a whole.

The Continuing Nursing Education program supports and advances the mission of the College of Nursing and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, which is a world-renowned health sciences center committed to improving health through premier education programs.
