Adult-Gerontological Acute Care NP

MSN Specialty Track 1b

Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Full and part-time study options
Required MSN core courses* are included in the schedule below.

Please note:
Effective for students entering fall semester 2012, the College’s two former specialty tracks in Adult Health/Acute Care and Geriatric Nursing will merge into one Adult-Gerontological Nursing specialty. This follows the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Consensus Model: Licensure, Accreditation, Certification and Education — which establishes national standards for uniform regulation of APRNs in all states.

The Consensus Model mandates that adult-care MSN programs incorporate gerontological training. This reflects rapid growth in U.S. senior population and allows enhanced/expanded clinical practice across the entire adult spectrum from adolescent to elder.

UNMC offers three options within this specialty:
Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (see below)
Adult-Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
Adult-Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist
