BSN application instructions

Application Process

All BSN applicants are required to complete an online application through the Centralized Application Service for Nursing Programs (NursingCAS) and to provide supplemental information through the Supplemental UNMC application. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that required documents (application, letters of recommendation, and all transcripts) are received by the published deadline. Applications received by the published deadline will be given full consideration. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Upon receipt of the completed application from NursingCAS by our college, all application materials become the property of UNMC CON.

Accelerated BSN Program applications will open on June 1 and will close on October 1. Traditional BSN Program applications and RN-BSN Program applications will open on October 1 and will close on February 1.

Please read carefully the instructions below before beginning your application. You will need to reference a number of documents as you complete the application process, including:

  • all college transcripts
    • student copies used by applicant to enter data into the online application
    • official paper copies to be sent directly to NursingCAS by the academic institution(s)
  • the names and email contact information of two recommenders
  • a current list of employment, service, and volunteer activities
  • a credit card number for payment of the application fee to NursingCAS

To apply please complete the following steps:

Online NursingCAS Application

The online NursingCAS application includes the receipt and verification of all official college transcripts. This application will require the input of an extensive amount of information and verification of several documents. We strongly suggest that you begin and submit your application as early as possible: at least four to six weeks before the published deadline so that all of your documents can be verified by NursingCAS by the published deadline. Applications received by the published deadline will be given full consideration. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

To complete the application, follow the detailed directions available from NursingCAS carefully. You will need to have a student copy of your college transcripts from which you will be able to enter detailed course information into the NursingCAS application. You will also need to order all official transcripts to be sent directly to NursingCAS for verification. The mailing address for transcripts is provided in the NursingCAS instructions.

You will need to enter information about your past employment, services, volunteer activities, licenses, and certifications.   You will also need to provide the names and e-mail contact information of two references. You may choose to provide the name of a third reference; this is optional. We suggest that you notify your recommenders in advance so that they can look for the e-mail message from NursingCAS.

The application fee is charged by and paid to NursingCAS. You will need to have a credit card for payment. Please see the NursingCAS website for fee details. UNMC CON does not charge an additional application fee.   It is important that you follow the application directions provided by Nursing CAS and that you monitor the progress of your application, and receipt of documents through the NursingCAS website.
