The science of nursing. The art of healing.
The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing Center for Nursing Science in Omaha will help alleviate Nebraska's nursing shortage. The new $14 million center, one of the nation's most advanced nursing education facilities, is vital to address the crux of the shortage – too few nurse faculty and facility capacity.
The emphasis of the facility is nursing science and generating future faculty. With the addition of faculty, the college expects to expand enrollment in Omaha by about 70 percent over the next 10 years.
State-of-the art classrooms and simulation and health assessment laboratories will better prepare students for an increasingly complex nursing environment. Whether it's complications during birth, resuscitating a patient, starting an IV or providing emotional support, the labs enable students to practice until they are competent and confident -- in an environment where mistakes don't impact patients.
