Target Audience Registered nurses providing direct patient care, nurse managers and leaders in hospitals and clinics and other interested healthcare professionals.

Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to enable the learner to address health needs of women residing in Northeastern Nebraska using research findings and comprehension of national and local health inequities.

Objectives:
At the end of this activity, the learners will be better able to:
1.  Describe the metabolic changes in the body that may result in pathological conditions, specifically as they relate to women.
2.  Translate clinical evidence and guidelines for metabolic syndrome and diabetes into practice for women across the lifespan.
3.  Evaluate monitoring and treatment protocols for pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and diabetes, focusing on women.
4.  Differentiate between behavioral health issues caused by metabolic causes versus disorders that were preexisting
5.  Evaluate diagnosis and treatment options for metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and related conditions using a case based approach.
