Gero Nurse Prep
Co-sponsored by AHCA/NCAL
Did you know that the CON CNE staff has partnered with the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) to provide the Gerontological Nurse Certification Prep Course to gerontological nurses nationwide?
The course was born from a research project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Mary Cramer, PI). The research project was so successful, the CON CNE repackaged the course to reach a national audience. Our goal is to reach facility administrators to sponsor RN staff in the course and the certification exam fee. Ultimately, we want to increase the quality of care in long term care facilities.
The purpose of the course is to prepare gerontological RNs for the ANCC board certification exam. It is a Web based course available 24/7. RNs can work through the course at their own pace when her/his schedule allows. There are 10 Modules and 4 Milestones all designed to prepare the RN to sit for the board certification exam. Currently, we have a 98% pass rate!
