Nestled in the heart of Northeast Nebraska, Norfolk offers everything you would expect: first class recreation, community festivals, award-winning attractions, unique shopping, progressive community life, and, of course, UNMC College of Nursing’s Northern Division.

The Northern Division is located in a beautiful state-of-the-art facility which is situated on the campus of Northeast Community College. UNMC students and faculty share space with Northeast Community College faculty and students. This rich learning environment provides opportunities for joint learning experiences between students including inter-professional education and extracurricular activities.

In the Northern Division, undergraduate and graduate courses and programs are offered in a convenient location using a wide variety of learning technologies. Students in undergraduate and graduate programs learn from experienced nurse faculty who has a wealth of clinical knowledge and specialization in the areas they teach. Clinical experiences are varied, and include rotations in rural acute and community settings to promote integration of the role of the nurse as a member of a complex health care team. Rural hospitals highly support student learning and enable students to develop strong relationships with nursing staff and patients who receive care.

Faculty in the Northern Division are eager to engage students in stimulating learning activities in the community. As a learner, you will receive personal attention while you are supported in your studies. Stress reduction and health promotion activities are encouraged, including pet therapy to help you do your best in the rigorous program of study. Academic coaching is available to all students in the Northern Division.

Norfolk offers small town charm with big city capabilities. Located in northeast Nebraska in the Elkhorn River Valley of Madison County, Norfolk has a population of nearly 25,000. And if you want to spend some time in the bigger city – Norfolk is just one and one half hours northwest of Omaha, two hours north of Lincoln, and 75 minutes southwest of Sioux City, Iowa.
