General Obstetrics & Gynecology
of the
Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
(402) 559-4500 or (800) 371-1244
The Section of General Obstetrics and Gynecology includes nine obstetrician/gynecologists who provide women’s health care services and
outreach to the community, and are actively involved in the department’s
academic programs. Dr.
Diana Curran is the director of the section.
Dr.
Sonja Kinney, Dr. Robert
Olesh, Dr. Lloyd Holm,
N. Jean Amoura, MD, MSc,
Dr. Marvin Stancil,
Dr. Jennifer Griffin,
Dr. Katherine Finney, and
Dr. Sylvia Ziegenbein.
Together, they have a combined 100+ years of experience in women’s
health care. An eighth
full-time faculty member, Dr.
Neena Agarwala, is fellowship-trained in gynecologic laparoscopy.
She focuses on minimally-invasive treatment of gynecologic
conditions, including incontinence and pelvic floor disorders.
In addition to our full-time faculty, Dr.
Joseph C. Scott, Jr. is a past chairman of our department.
He now assists with our educational programs and is an Emeritus
Professor on our faculty, providing mentoring and guidance to all our
faculty and staff, and Dr. Karen
Olson is a retired faculty member who assists with the Olson
Women's Health Resource Center.
Each of our general obstetrician/gynecologists
provides expert medical care for women of all ages.
Outpatient services are provided at several area locations.
UNMC Physicians at the Durham Outpatient Center
on campus is the main site. Services are also provided at the Omaha Veteran’s Memorial
Hospital at 42nd and Center, and UNMC Physicians clinic sites at Summit
Plaza (Hwy 370 @ 36th), Baker Place (50th and Ames),
UNMC Community Health Center (36th and Q), and Clarkson West (144th and
Center).
In addition to individual physician practices,
Continuity Clinics are offered each day at the Durham site.
These clinics, supervised by our general ob/gyn faculty, are
designed to provide hands-on educational experiences in the outpatient
setting for our resident physicians-in-training.
Dr. Stancil is the medical director for the Maternal
Care
program and Dr. Amoura is the medical director of the Family Planning
program. These programs,
partially supported by federal entitlement funds, have been established to
provide focused care to underserved populations in the Omaha metropolitan
area, in order to increase the incidence of early prenatal care, improve
maternal and child health outcomes, and reduce the number of unintended
pregnancies, especially among teens.
Certified Nurse Practitioners
In addition to our full-time obstetrician/gynecologists, our staff is supported by
two certified nurse practitioners.
Sara Nollette, MSN, APRN provides well-woman
health care services. She works in consultation with Ob/Gyn physicians and
specializes in advance practice women's health nursing for our low risk
patients. Nancye Hasiak, APRN
is a Family Nurse
Practitioner specializing in Gynecology.
The nurse practitioners work closely with UNMC obstetrician/gynecologists and
consult with them on high-risk situations.
