The Olson Center is a leader in research in reproduction and issues related to women’s health. Current research centers on ovarian follicle and oocytes development, ovulation, corpus luteum development and regression, and ovarian cancer. These studies impact knowledge of polycystic ovary syndrome, luteal insufficiency, early pregnancy loss, premature ovarian failure and assisted reproduction technologies. Post-doctoral Fellow One post-doctoral fellow position is available in the Olson Center for Women’s Health, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), Omaha, NE. The successful candidate will pursue research on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of hormone and growth factor action in primary ovarian cells and ovarian cancers. Areas include granulosa and lutea cell differentiation, corpus luteum regression, and ovarian cancer development. The studies focus on intracellular signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation, hypertrophy, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism and steroidogenesis. Research with be performed in the Durham Research Center. Excellent laboratories, core-facilities, and interactions with scientists from UNMC, Eppley Cancer Institute and University of Nebraska-Lincoln, make this an excellent training opportunity. The successful candidate must be self-starter, resourceful, and a recipient of a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. At least two years experience in ovarian biology, molecular and cell biology, and/or cancer biology is preferred. Evidence of a productive English language scholarship is required, with scientific publications in internationally recognized journals preferred. Salary is commensurate with level of training, experience, and expertise.
